Groups and Assessment
Students are taught in ability based sets.
Students will be assessed after each unit of study retrospectively during the year with as well as an end of year exam
There are two tiers for this course, higher and foundation. Students taking the higher tier examinations are tested on more material, are presented with more challenging questions and may be awarded grades A*-C or a U grade (9 - 4 for Maths under the new grading system). Students taking the foundation tier can gain grades C- U (5 – 1 for maths), but are examined on less content. For full details click on the ‘specification’ at the bottom of this page.
Controlled Assessment and Final Examinations
There is no controlled assessment for this course
There are three final examinations at the end of year 11
Paper 1 - Non calculator paper. 1 hour and 30 minutes. 1/3 of final grade >
Paper 2 - Calculator paper. 1 hour and 30 minutes. 1/3 of final grade
Paper 3 - Calculator paper. 1 hour and 30 minutes. 1/3 of final grade
