Groups and Assessment
Students are taught in mixed ability groups.
Controlled assessment takes place during both Years 10 and 11. Work is assessed continually with feedback on how to improve. The examination takes place in the summer of Year 11. Ongoing class based testing.
There are no tiers in this GCSE course, all students take the same final exams.
Controlled Assessment and Final Examinations
Controlled assessment takes place in both Years 10 and 11 and counts for 60% of the final grade.>
There is one final examination at the end of year 11. This counts for 40% of the final grade.
Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes
Format: Section A asks students to analyse a film extract and focus on genre, representation and media language; Section B includes questions relating to a case study of two TYV Comedies, focusing on audiences and institutions.
