At Heathside we strive to provide a welcoming, challenging, secure and positive learning environment where all students feel safe, valued and happy.
We believe that everyone has the right to be treated with respect and with this right comes the responsibility to treat others with respect. Behaviour for Learning at Heathside is firmly rooted in the school value of Give Respect gain Gain Respect
We aim to achieve outstanding levels of behaviour and an exceptionally positive climate for learning through a clear, shared understanding of expectations and the skilled and highly consistent behaviour management by all staff.
We believe that every student deserves disruption free learning every minute of every lesson. To help us achieve this, we expect students to follow six simple classroom rules:
Listen to others
One voice at a time
Enter and leave calmly
Polite and positive language
Punctual, Smart, Prepared
Our aim is to create a positive behaviour climate where all students feel a sense of belonging. We will always strive to deal with behaviour in an objective manner; we recognise that sometimes students will make mistakes but we will provide the encouragement, support and nurture to help them make right decisions.
It is inevitable, however, that in a school of this size, some students will make the wrong decisions. In these cases, we do have a clear system with dealing with behaviour as outlined below:
Chance, Choice and Consequence: The C System
